Whale Watching
From late June to October, humpback whales migrate up the coast of Mozambique to calve in warm equatorial waters. You can watch them breech and play from the decks of Colina Verde or, for a closer encounter, you can take a boat trip to the open ocean.

Turtle Monitoring
From November to January each year, endangered female loggerhead and leatherback turtles journey up the beaches of Machangulo to lay their eggs in the soft sand. The D’Ouro Marine Reserve and local turtle monitoring program protect the turtles.

Maputo Special Reserve
Drive out to Maputo Special Reserve with an expert guide. Take in the spectacular scenery with panoramic vistas that encompass ocean, rolling hills, mangrove forests and the bay area. Enjoy an abundant picnic close to one of the inland lakes where you can spot crocodiles, hippos and birds. The reserve is home to many species of bird and mammal including zebra, wildebeest, antelope, giraffe and elephants.
